Welcome

Welcome to El Chamuyo. This blog has been set up to be a place for the Vancouver tango community to share ideas, opinions and to debate about Argentine Tango. Until now the main way to communicate with the entire Vancouver community has been via the All Vancouver Tango email list which administrator John Sanders has requested to be used only for promoting tango events and activities and NOT as a forum for personal opinion. So here is the place for your opinions. The main difference being that the email list gets a message delivered to everyone's inbox. We propose that if there is something you would like to bring to everyone's attention you may send an email to the list with a link inviting them to join your discussion here at this blog. There will be no moderator for the blog. It is open to and created by everyone. Your posts will publish immediately without being edited or filtered. However obscene or very aggressive posts will be deleted. The only rule is to please keep the subject matter Argentine Tango related. There will be different topics listed in the sidebar to get things started off. If there is something that you would like to post that warrants a new topic you can post it in the 'general' thread with a note of your new topic idea and a separate topic thread will be created.

. . .

Chamuyo / cha-mu-sho/ a lunfardo word that means to talk or to chat, sometimes it means to talk bullshit or chat someone up. It is a common activity in the very social and expressive Argentine society where hours are spent in the cafes or over a mate talking about politics, philosophy, soccer or any other topic.
